Nanome raises $3M in funding
Nanome – San Diego-based VR company – has raised three million USD in funding with the support of Oculus’ co-founder Michael Antonov. The app can help scientists collaborate through VR in creating the chemical structure and conducting scientific research. Nanome’s VR platform has been available on Oculus Store since 2018.
Since its foundation, the Nanome has had a clear vision of assisting scientists in an intuitive virtual interface. Nanome is free for personal use. It is supported by Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Valve Index Headsets. Steve McCloskey, the Nanome’s CEO, and founder believes that the funding gives them the firepower to be more impactful.
Starting as a visualization tool for research and development, Nanome has grown to be a more sophisticated collaboration platform at molecular levels.
Maskmaker VR
InnerspaceVR’s Maskmaker – like its predecessor, A Fisherman’s Tale 2019 – may be one of the most novel puzzlers of 2021. Recently, the Maskmaker released the trailer.
From the gameplay, it seems that the game is divided into two areas: the workshop and the outer world. In the workshop, the user makes masks, carving them from wood, and painting the colors. Moreover, players can use scanned masks to inhabit the bodies of other residents. InnerspaceVR expects that the game runtime will be around 5 to 6 hours. The game is set to release on April 20th, 2021.
Survive in Oceanraft VR
An early version of Oceancraft, which is free to try, is launched on SideQuest. Developers will be bringing it to App Lab soon. The game is about survival in the middle of the ocean. At least eight people can play this together. Crafting elements float on the sea, which can be gathered through Hookshot.
You will fish for food, chop it, and then cook it. Oceancraft has brought survival game ideas and its own to VR in a magnificent way. FlodLab claims that the gameplay is for almost an hour right now. But, the extension in the full version will probably be great.
System Shock 2 with a VR support
CEO of Nightdive Studios, Stephen Kick, confirmed that the game is to be ported to VR as a part of the System Shock 2: Enhance edition. It essentially means that complete multiplayer support is here with people playing in VR headset teaming for missions with other players on PC. Moreover, he confirmed that the game has features and actions like picking up things from a distance, similar to Half-life: Alyx. However, VR support is not likely to launch with the enhanced edition. The game is expected to be a post-launch; however, it’s yet to confirm whether it will be a free update or a premium add-on. Since Nightdive hasn’t announced its launch on any other platform, System Shock 2 VR may only launch on PC VR.
